Orange, White and Blue | Style

Orange, White and Blue

With Canada day and the 4th of July this coming week I was feeling quite patriotic and for me nothing is more patriotic than that nautical look. However because I'm Canadian I thought I'd take a twist on the Red White and Blue and add one of my favourite colours, Orange.
This outfit makes me feel like I should be going to the Yacht Club, or like in some coastal town.
*Isn't that the dream eh?*

This outfit is also a classic, which is just my style. I love the timeless look of navy blue and white. It just looks so proper to me.. I JUST LOVE IT! *I can't say it any other way!*

I don't like to mixing patterns, and by that I don't want to wear patterns that clash, like two different florals. These simple stripes with the understated floral in the scarf are one of few exceptions I make when creating an outfit.

I tied the scarf to add a little character and create the infinity look. The bracelet is from a jewelry party I went to a few years ago with my mom. It is hand made with lots of dangling beads and little stones, in multiple colours, but seems to have a lot of orange and pink shades so I added it to pull colour with the scarf. I kept the shoes comfortable and simple with a pair of classic runners.

Aztec and Jean | Style

Saturday Style

Aztec and Jean, a fun colour paired with my staple piece, Jean Jacket. Like blogger Estee (www.essiebutton.com) would say this is a Muted Neon skirt. I love this lime green, its soft, yet brings a bright aspect to my outfit. I also think it makes me look some what tan. *Never a bad thing!*

I brought more colour with a bright lip and nail. Nails are Revlon 250 Rich Raspberry and Lips are Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm in Ripe Raspberry. I guess is was a Raspberry kind of day! *and I love it*

*also didn't realize how similar the names were until I just typed them out! ahha*

The skirt, jacket and tank top, also a muted lime green, are all from American Eagle. If you've read my Pleats and Purple post, you'd know that that outfit was also all from American Eagle!

*I think I might like that store or something*

My Sandals are new and from Target. They are so comfortable and go with everything. I think I've worn them everyday sense I got them. I like the gold and silver studs on the largest strap, it gives them a little edge.

I don't know where my earrings are from but they are a pale blue and although there isn't blue in the skirt, the tone of the colour is also muted, so I thought they looked nice with the outfit.

I also like that they are a little dressy to make this casual outfit look put together and thought out.

Today i'm not doing anything special just doing errands with my Mum and hanging out with my family and puppies!

what do you wear on Saturdays?

Bite Me | Bite Beauty Review

Bite Me

The Deconstructed Rose Palette from Bite Beauty has become my newest baby. This beautiful lip gloss palette has made me realize Bite Beauty www.bitebeauty.com  is my new Holy Grail brand for lip products in general.  Bite Beauty is a beauty brand that from my knowledge only focuses on Lip products.

Personally I'm dying to go to their Bite Lab in Soho,New York where you can create your own personal lip colour! How AMAZEBALLS is that!!!

The first time I heard of Bite Beauty was from blogger/youtuber Fleur (www.youtube.com/user/FleurDeForce) (www.fleurdeforce.blogspot.com)  she had a double ended lipstick and when she splotched them I said to myself, "I need 'dat' on my lips!" *proper english*
Needless to say after a stop at Sephora I owned a Bite Lip Stick, unfortunately it wasnt the one that I had seen in Fleur's video because they were out of stock I did get another instead, a Lip Tint in the shade Watermelon and that lipstick made sweet love to my lips *too much?*

What I mean to say is Bite lip products are pigmented perfectly. The colour lasts, they are not sticky or drying. I honestly think the Lip Tint cured my chapped lips! It felt more like I was wearing a fabulous lip balm than an actual lip tint lipstick.
After the love making with the Lip Tint I knew I wanted/needed *same thing right?* more!
I then ordered this Deconstructed Rose Palette which I also saw Fleur get in one of her haul videos.

Colours one to ten from left to right
Colours one to ten from left to right
The lip glosses are just as amazing as the lip tint. They are beautiful colours, the sheer gloss is again moisturising and don't feel sticky on the lips. The glosses in this palette are mini compared to the individual ones you can buy.

In the box the shades can look quite similar to each other however once on and in the splotches above you can see how each colour has its own personality. This palette fills every mood and can be wore both day and night. The sheer gloss can be built up for a bolder colour which I thought was great when I had a night out in the last week.

Overall I love their products and would recommend to all, but especially to the fellow girls out there like me with dry lips. If you have cracked or flacking lips to the point where it is hard to wear lipstick you have to try Bite the colour doesn't settle in the cracks on your lips and like I have said they are moisturising while also giving your that fun colour you want. If you are nervous about wearing lip products because of the possibility of them drying out your lips more I was say 100% try a Bite product!

Bite also has Lip care products including a lip scrub/exfoliator!

Most used products atm | Beauty Products Reviews

Most Used Right Now

This might be one of my longer posts but I had to talk about all of these products because I have literally been wearing all of them everyday!

Starting from the first product I put on to the last.

Benefits the porefessional

This product is said to erase the look of large pores on your face, however I don't really have a problem with having noticeable pores. What I do love this product for is its priming aspects in keeping your foundation on longer. I notice a large difference in how much of my foundation and powder rubs off when I am not wearing a primer.

I am also done this tube of it and I am already planning to get another. It is so silky on your skin and a very small amount can cover your entire face. (I find too much can make your face feel slippery and your foundation will just rub around and not set). Just to add that extra hold to your foundation this is a great product to use.

Bourjois Paris

Healthy Mix Gel Serum Foundation & Healthy Balance Unifying Powder

This products together create a great base for your makeup. They leave the skin looking even and natural. They are both light and genital and leave a matt finish which I personally prefer. Something I didn't expect from these products is the smell of both, they smell great! I was never aware foundation or any face product other than creams had a smell so it was a pleasant surprise.

I do recommend these products, I am someone with sensitive skin, and quite honestly was nervous to try a new foundation and powder in fear of a bad break out or possibly something worse but neither of these products have bothered my skin, even with the scent.

Nars Creamy Concealer

Literally a magic eraser for your blemishes and discoloured areas. YOU NEED THIS!
That is all I have to say about that...

Urban Decay All-NighterSetting Spray

The same idea as the porefessional in that it locks in your make-up. I love spraying this on after I've finished my make-up because it keeps the make-up set even if I accidentally rub my face during the day. You just close your eyes spray it on and wait for it to dry. It doesn't leave your face stinky or feeling dried out at all.

Tarte Cheek Stain

This is a very buildable product if applied correctly it can give a beautiful dew like finish to your cheeks. Very subtle, natural and understated.

Bobbi Brown Neutrals Eye Palette & Marc Jacobs Lolita Palette

I love wearing Natural eye shadow colours, and these palettes are my favourite.
BOTH have amazing colour pigmentation, they last on the eye without primer, and they blend beautifully. They are light and easy to wear, but can be built up for a more dramatic look.

Tarte Light, Camera, Lashes.

This mascara is beautiful, not too thick, it applies quick and doesn't leave your eye lashes feeling stuck together or crinkly and hard.

The Body Shop Honey Bronzer

If you haven't already seen the pattern I love the natural look and this is the bronzer of all bronzer, I swear to you I have not used any other bronzers sense I got this two months ago. This was a great recommendation from Estee, or www.essiebutton.com. It again is a product that is gentle on the skin and doesn't case any irritation! I got the lightest shade, because now that it is summer and I am getting some what of a tan I use this as an all-over powder on the days that its noticeable that I've been out in the sun. This is great as a powder as well giving a glow and natural set finish with just a slight shimmer.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Stain

Not going to lie to you I am a lazy person, so if there is a way to apply my lipstick once and have it stay on all night with no touch ups...you better believe I'm going to take it!
I love lip stains in general, but one that I've rediscovered lately are these by Revlon. They can get a bit drying on the lip but the colour pigment and durability are what make it a great product. I also love the crayon application it is lietally like drawing with a crayon on your lips, for some reason this really appeals to me...weird I know but honestly who's with me!?

The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer

This is still a fairly new product to me and I am still getting use to how I like to wear it. However one this I learned is less is more with this product, you really need to start small and build it otherwise you look like you have some kind of white/gold glitter all over your face and unless your five I don't think you are really going to be going for that particular look.

Again a buildable product, my favourite, it also give a great glow and brightens the face. This product is something I would use for special occasions and not necessarily on a day-to-day basis.

Finally! Last but don't least.

The Body Shop Body Butter

This is my first ever tub of body butter from the body shop and I now know I have been missing out...badly! It is so moisturising, I like that it is thick and needs a bit of a rub to sink in, really giving your skin the TLC it needs and deserves. I love that scents they have and how the smell last during the day and not just when you are applying it.

So I hope this isn't too much reading, I thought all these products deserved the proper recognition.
What have you been loving lately?

Patio Dinner Outfit | Style

Patio Dinner Outfit

I recently had a lovely dinner out with my parents, sister and boyfriend to celebrate my sisters last day of high school EVER! *I can't believe my baby is all grown up!* *crying*

We went to a local sports bar and grill (classic) to have dinner on the patio, because its so warm I wanted to keep the outfit light with the soft breathable shorts from Garage, they are a busy print, not in a bad way, but just enough I wanted to keep the rest of my outfit simple. I don't like to wear more than one pattern at once. *just a personal preference*

My top is a boyfriend fit navy blue t-shirt from Joe Fresh. Obviously a staple piece in my closet because it literally can be wore so many ways and also it's navy blue... can I say anymore.

My jean jacket is probably one of my top 5 favorite pieces I own. I literally try to wear it any chance I get. Its great to dress down an outfit and also great for a patio diner incase it gets cooler as you are finishing your meal. I got the jean jacket is from American Eagle.

I wore my army green Toms to bring out some of the green in the print of my shorts and also they are just so freaking comfy and cute!!! Love my Toms!

I hope this inspires a patio dinner outfit for all of you! Remember to wear what you are comfortable in!

Love to hear some of your ideas for summer time dinner outfits

Pleats and Purple | Style

Pleats and Purple

Today was a rainy day, my favourite kind of day. Summer rain storms are some of the most relaxing times. I like to have a cup of tea and sit with my Dad on the front porch listening  and watching the rain, some times hearing the thunder.

On a day like this I want my outfit to match my mood, cool, calm and collected. To get that mood into an outfit I wanted something that looked pulled together but felt comfortable.

I noticed after the fact that everything, down to the earrings, is from American Eagle *Obviously one of my fav places to shop*

I though this shirt was so different and fun. Usually pleats are found on bottoms like skirts so to have a top what was all pleats pleased my classic tendencies. I also liked the detailing of the flowers around the sleeves of the tank, this too is an unusual place to find detailing on a shirt.

The capris are a no-brainer. The distressed look keeps it casual and the looser, boyfriend fit is great for when I'm curled up with that cup of tea.

I wasn't wearing the cardigan originally because it kind of covers the flower detail I love, but with the rain the temperature cooled off and it was a must.

The embroidered flowers and rips in the jeans gave me a gypsy feeling so I went with so large gold earrings to compliment the gypsy soul I was channeling, free and relaxed.
What's your favourite mood to match your outfits too?

Nautical and Bright | Style

Bringing some life into my Nautical look

In my closet you can never go wrong with a blue and white nautical stripe. This skirt in particular was a nice change with a bright blue rather than the typically navy blue.

*believe me I do love my navy blue*

The colour of this skirt inspired me to pair it with a bright coral colour rather than a more neutral colour I would normally go for like white or grey.

*of course I had to go with Sperry's*

The bright pop is my favourite part of this outfit making it very summery and happy!

If you're some what of a Plain Jane like me, adding one bright piece is an easy way to bring life to your outfit. It is also a great way to ease yourself into wearing brighter colours if you want to start changing up your look, whether for the season or in general!

Face of the Day | Beauty Products

My Weekend Face of the Day

Having a little more time on the weekend is always nice. This is the time of the week I like taking my time with my make-up and test out anything new products or ideas I've come up with through the week!

This week I had a new mini test product I got with my points at Sephora, (www.sephora.com)  it was the TARTE Cheek Stain in Sheer Berry (www.tartecosmetics.com) . Honestly I didn't get to choose the colour of the stain, and I probably wouldn't have chosen this shade for myself but I have fallen absolutely in love with this colour and product!

I put this stain on my cheeks before my powder, which on the side note was the Honey Bronzer in Light Matte from The Body Shop (www.thebodyshop.ca) , (recommendation by Estee, www.essiebutton.com)

ANYWAY! back to the stain, I put in on before my powder because it gives the appearance of a natural dew like flush, rather than looking like more blushes that are one of the last touches added to the cheeks. I put this stain on the back of my hand and then used a make up sponge to apply to my cheek bones and back towards my hair line.

I wanted my eyes to stand out because I was going with a more natural looking flush on my cheeks. So I used the REVLON colorstay eyeliner in Charcoal (www.revlon.ca)  with the Top Shop's  3D Curve massacre in black. (www.topshop.com)

The charcoal eyeliner instead of a black liner kept the look from being to harsh, and gave a bit of a smoky eye effect.

To help the smoky eye I used the Marc Jacobs eye shadow palette in Lolita, (neutral palette colours), blending in the crease. (www.marcjacobs.com/beauty)

Let me know what your go to weekend look is and what products you've been testing lately!

Classic, Causal, Collected | Style

Classic, Causal, Collected

My first outfit of the day, I love me some classic pieces. I recently got this navy skirt at the store Jacob in their clearance sale and lets just say i am in L O V E.

I couldn't wait to style this piece because it can actually go with anything! To be honest I didn't need another navy blue piece but I can't say no its my favorite colour.

I love the subtle texture in the skirt and the pleats give it that classic grace.
*a must when it comes to pieces in my collection*

Might I also said its very flattering and SO comfortable! light and airy

I'm the kind of girl that doesn't go for the latest phase in fashion I want the pieces that will still work next season.

I like to think of my style as being mature for my age but i've always dressed that way and I don't plan on changing. I love creating my personal style!

Wear what you are most comfortable in, what best represents you and your personality!

I kept the look simple with no jewelry. I let the bold red lip (bite lipstick) and the fun flare of the hat be the accessories.

Welcome and Etcetera

Thanks for stumbling upon my blog, you probably got pretty deep into the internet to find this little guy but I'm glad you're here!

I'm Katie, I love all things beauty. My philosophy is simple, *much like my style* I look at 'beauty' items, make up and all that jazz as a way of expressing ones' self.

What I want to set out to do is tell people about the products I've found and loved.. or maybe didn't love to help them find what they might love so they too can express themselves in a way that suits them!

I'm still learning how I like to express myself and its an ever changing project, but a project I enjoy and want to enjoy with you! *and anyone who might read these posts*

I like to refer to my style as Simple and Classic. I'm all about the neutrals baby! and for fashion I love the classic pieces that go with everything. The ones you can dress up and dress down and are always in style.

Welcome to my life and I could go on but lets just say... etcetera.

*see what I did there*

Two Overlooked Products | Beauty Products

I've noticed lately that all the bloggers and YouTubers I follow haven't been giving the proper recognition to, what I believe, are some pretty awesome products.

The two i've decided to focus on are staples in my collection, both of which I find myself reaching for almost every time i'm putting on my face, *how I like to say putting on my make-up*

Benefit's Dandelion & Almay'a Color + Care Liquid Lip Balm
The first being Benefit's blush - Dandelion.

When I first saw this blush in the local Shoppers Drug Mart, (Canadian drugstore) I HAD to have it. I love me some classic staple pieces and this was it!

Its a pretty soft pink and seriously gives your cheek bones the most natural glow.

Sometimes I find I have to force myself use other blushes to switch it up because I am ALWAYS reaching for this blush, mostly because it goes with every look.

Its that little extra warmth.. it completes me.

*moving on before this gets weird*

Next is a product from one of my favorite brands, Almay, and although I believe this brand in general doesnt get talked about enough in the beauty community I am really surprised their new Color + Care Liquid Lip Balm isn't a cult favorite by now.

from front to back; (600) blooming balm, (500) pink pout, (900) apricot pucker, (700) cantaloupe cream
This is the lip balm, almost gloss that is always found in my bag. My go to colour not just for this brand but in general is the shade Apricot Pucker *who doesn't love reading names of products... so fun!*

This really is a lip balm, moisturizing and light on your lips. its easy to wear and I swear helped heal my chapped lips while also giving me a nice hint of color.
Color number and name same order as above

I enjoy that the pigment is sheer, but also build-able aspect making it a good day to night lip.

If you haven't tired either of these products, get yourself to the store right now! I swear these pieces are needed! Both perfect everyday, go to looks!
